Details: | This year, in four sessions, the role of genetic information in disease, behaviour and the information society will be discussed with reference to its social impact. The tradition of this conference is to promote mutual interest, understanding, and dialogue between biologists and a variety of other sectors of society that are concerned with the impact of modern biology. Session I: Technological revolutions in genetic information gathering and application. Session II: Genes and disease; the links and their consequences for human freedom. Session III: Use and abuse of genetic information in justice, security and the information society. Session IV: Fast forward: human trait modulation, "Genomes'R'us", designer babies and genetic identity cards. The conference is organised for the public, and there is no registration fee. |
