Details: Meanwhile dementia is on everyone’s mind, since it is closely associated with the demographic change. Our society is aware of its importance for life in old age in general and for care in particular. Though deliberately looking away is no longer an option, there still is not enough focus on recognising all the possibilities and using all resources. Even well-intentioned books and films wanting to promote the topic often distort the picture into the positive, thus making it fuzzy. To see what has to be seen and to do what can be done – this requires a clear analysis on one hand and a profound knowledge of the possibilities and limits on the other. The second Malteser Congress on dementia thus focusses on current evidence and the recently revised S3 guideline, never losing sight of the person with dementia. The Palliative Philosophy according to Silviahemmet is the firm basis of all our activities in the field of dementia. There is so much novelty, so much to see and so much to be done for persons with dementia and their relatives. This is what we want to talk about at the Malteser Congress, what we want to discuss and develop. You are cordially invited to join in this journey of discovery. We are looking forward to meeting you in Duisburg on September 8th and 9th, 2016.
