Details: | Papers addressing topics in Ethics are now being invited for the Second Annual International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Ethics to be held in Baton Rouge, LA, February 19th -- 21st, 2004. Papers that address topics in medical ethics are strongly encouraged. The Keynote Speaker for this Symposium will be THOMAS MAGNELL (Drew University/Harvard Medical School). Please note that this Symposium will be held during the MARDI GRAS FESTIVITIES of both Baton Rouge and New Orleans and this should be borne in mind when planning accommodation and travel. (Baton Rouge's main Mardi Gras Parade, held in the historic Spanish Town section of the city, is on Saturday, February 21st. This Parade will begin after the Symposium is over, and an informal Reception in Spanish Town will be arranged for Symposium participants to coincide with it.) Moreover, As the State Capital of Louisiana Baton Rouge has a wealth of places that are of cultural and historical interest, and opportunities to visit these will be made available. Papers presented at this Symposium may be published in a Special Issue of the peer-reviewed online journal Global Virtue Ethics Review, and possibly in an edited collection of papers from the Symposium. Persons interested in these publishing opportunities should indicate this when submitting their papers. Papers submitted to this Symposium should be written for presentation in approximately 20-30 minutes reading time. The deadline for receipt of paper submissions is Monday, December 1st, 2003. Early submission is encouraged.
