Details: | Nature is subject to increasing pressure as consumption grows, population rises and pollution increases. The erosion of the natural systems that support human and other life means that current modes of social and economic organisation are not sustainable. To secure a sustainable and decent quality of life for all, these modes of organisation must be modified. Environmental justice, both intergenerational and intragenerational, requires this. Environmental justice is one cental value in a global ethic. Taking environmental justice seriously requires addressing issues of distribution that will enable the developing nations to provide economic and health security for their populations. |
