Details: | Issues surrounding Genetic Testing will increasingly affect our lives in the future. This event will try to explain these issues in simple terms, and explore their morals and ethics. It will address such issues as: the limitations and benefits of genetic testing, genetic counselling, gene therapy, insurance, pharmacogenetics, population screening for genetic predispositions, ownership of DNA information, genetic databases. The event will be chaired by Professor Dawn Forman, Director of the School of Education, Health & Sciences, University of Derby Speakers will include Dr Christine Patch, Human Genetics Commission Member and Genetic Nurse Counsellor; Dr Helen Wallace, GeneWatchUK and Pharmacogenetics Specialist; Dr Yasmin Alikhan, Community Paediatrician; Jemima Agyare, Institute for the Study of Genetics, Biorisks and Society, The University of Nottingham |
