Details: | This International Joint Bioethics Congress is intended to be a platform to discuss various issues of bioethics in an inter-cultural manner by bringing together leading international scientists, clinicians, theologians, philosophers and legal scholars. It is the Sixth Asian Bioethics Conference, and already a wide range of scholars from all corners of the globe, not only Europe, Asia and the Pacific, have indicated they will join. Topics to be covered include Environmental Ethics, Global Bioethics, Community Engagement in Bioethics, Bioethics Education, Ethics as A Major Element in Culture, Bioethics in Multicultural Societies, Value Exchanges Within and Between Cultures, International Ethical Codes, End-of-Life Issues in Different Cultures, Ethical Issues at the Beginning of Life in Different Cultures, Bioethics and Faith Traditions, and History of Bioethics. It will be a pleasure for us to welcome all national and international participants to the most international bioethics congress yet to be held in Turkey . The theme of the Congress was chosen as "Inter-Cultural Bioethics: Asia and the West" since Turkey is in a unique geo-political location that Asia meets with Europe. The congress is open to everyone from the general public and experts in a wide range of different disciplines who wish to share their works and views on bioethics. The congress languages will be Turkish and English, and simultaneous translation will be available. The congress is aimed to be not only a scientific festival, but also the return of Medical Ethics to its homeland, Sanliurfa, the city where Ishaq bin Ali al-Ruhawi, the author of the first Medical Ethics book in Islamic Civilization, had lived, after 11 centuries. |
