Details: | We have pleasure in inviting you to take part in the 2nd International Symposium which will be held in Kharkov, Ukraine 4-7 October 2005. The success of the 1st Symposium in October 2000 showed that the scientific community is deeply concerned about bioethical problems. More than 300 participants came from all over the world and took part in an exchange of views that undoubtedly brought bioethics to the attention of scientists and the wider public. The theme of the 2nd International Symposium, "Bioethics -- the way to international standards", is the need to establish a consensus on the question of making science and scientific education more humane in its attitude to non-human animals and more aware of its responsibility to protect biodiversity. The Symposium will be conducted in collaboration with international organisations including the Centre for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Russia), Compassion in World Farming (Great Britain), the International Association Against Painful Experiments on Animals (Great Britain) and the World Society for the Protection of Animals (Great Britain). |
