Details: | The conference will discuss the legal, ethical and social implications of the vast development of reproductive technologies on parenthood and family life. Abstracts deadline is 31 January 2007. Originally developed as treatment for infertility reproductive technologies are now offered as commercial services for clients who are not necessarily infertile and for purposes other than reproduction. Expanding the use of these technologies has changed society?s perception of parenthood and family life, and more generally re-examined the notion of procreative liberty and its social effects. The conference will address the legal and ethical issues surrounding these changes and examine their implications on the broader concerns occupying anyone who is interested in the ethics of reproductive technology. The conference is aimed at lawyers, ethicists physicians and other clinicians, social scientists and policy makers interested in the influences of reproductive technologies and medical scientific knowledge on the concepts of parenthood, family and child rearing. The conference will consist of two and a half days of presentations and workshops held in English. |
