Details: | The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is an open platform for debate and communication for the science community of Europe and the world promoted by Euroscience. It presents and profiles Europe's leading research trends in the sciences, humanities and social sciences. By bringing together researchers across disciplines and from all around Europe, Euroscience has created ESOF to promote the European Research Area (ERA). ESOF also encourages the young people of Europe to consider and develop careers in science, technology and the humanities. ESOF fosters and promotes science communication. Science journalists and science communicators are key members of the ESOF community and their involvement ensures that as many people as possible grasp how European science and technology enriches our lives and affects us all. ESOF is a place where researchers can explain and relate their research to a broad audience. ESOF seeks to positively contribute to European science policy by creating a place for open discussion on science policy. All members of Europe's science community - all those concerned about the future of European science - can express their views on the development of science policy and funding in Europe. ESOF is designed to be a place where policy makers are allowed to explore new directions and to consult with the people most directly affected by European science and technology policy decisions. ESOF has an equal emphasis on technology. The transfer of scientific discoveries into useable and applicable technology can only be fostered through communication between business and researchers and by policies that facilitate the process. By providing business, researchers and policy makers with a place to meet and discuss their interests and needs, ESOF aims to stimulate the growth of Europe's knowledge-based economy. |
