Details: | The European Master in Bioethics aims at health care professionals and others professionally interested in medical ethics. The European Master in Bioethics programme consists of five introductory and eleven specialised courses comprising a total of 1,800 student working hours and sixty study points. The sixteen courses are offered in four residential months spread across the two-year period of training: March 2004 : Nijmegen - the Netherlands (courses I-IV) ; September 2004 : Basel - Switzerland (courses V-VIII) ; March 2005 : Leuven - Belgium (courses IIX-XIII) ; September 2005 : Padova - Italy (courses XIII-XVI). Five introductory courses: (1) Introduction into bioethics; (2) Ethical theories; (3) Methods of ethics; (4) History and evolution of ethics in health care; (5) Clinical bioethics. Eleven specialised courses: (6) Human and clinical genetics; (7) Palliative care; (8) Technology and ethics; (9) Choices in health care; (10) Assisted reproduction; (11) Ethics of care; (12) Research ethics; (13) Public health and prevention; (14) Treatment decisions; (15) Religion and bioethics; (16) Ethics and children. All courses and seminars are held in English. All candidates coming from countries where English is not used as a language of instruction are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). |
