Details: | On behalf of the European Transplant Coordinators Organisation (ETCO), we invite you to participate in the 2010 European Organ Donation Congress, 22nd ETCO scheduled to take place from 24 – 26 September 2010 at Cardiff City Hall, Cardiff, Wales, UK. Transplant coordination is increasingly recognized as a key factor in improving organ donation rates. The organ shortage is the greatest impediment to organ transplantation. The European Commission’s Action Plan on Organ Donation and Transplantation calls for training and accreditation and appointment of TCs in all transplantation hospitals. The UK government is implementing ambitious reforms which include doubling the number of transplant coordinators. ETCO fulfils a vital role in resolving this complexity, providing training, guidelines, an interactive forum for professionals, and accreditation of professional excellence and quality of procedures. ETCO is the voice of the transplant coordinator and is dedicated to winning recognition of the importance of the role of coordinators and helping governments and the European Parliament in drawing up laws and regulations. Our congress is an opportunity for young professional to develop their skills, researchers to divulge their discoveries and experts to share their knowledge. The EODC is the only organ donation and transplantation congress being held in Europe in 2010 and is already attracting a lot of interest. Leading professionals from all areas of donation and transplantation are being invited to speak, there is a joint session with the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, with the European Shock Society, and a session on European policy in which the EU and the UEMS will speak. Pre-congress workshops and a full day wet lab is also programmed as well as the examinations of the Certificate of European Transplant Coordination, under the auspices of the UEMS. ETCO congresses are recognized by the EACCME and CME credits awarded. Cardiff is one of the most attractive cities in Europe, boasting a wealth of experience as a host city and we look forward to welcoming you to the capital of Wales for the 2010 European Organ Donation Congress. |
