Good Practice of Documentation - Workshop - Italien

Details: The aim of the workshop is to share expertise in and discuss central standards of documentation in the field of ethics and science (e.g. document types and relevance criteria, cataloguing rules, thesauri, selection of indexing terms, setting up and maintaining a database). At the same time it will be an opportunity to present the work of ETHICSWEB and to discuss requirements for and the benefits of participation in ETHICSWEB. The workshop is open to documentarians and librarians engaged in documentation in the area of ethics and science. Application for travel grants is possible. DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL ETHICS AND HISTORY OF MEDICINE (GOETTINGEN) OFFERS TRAVEL GRANTS FOR ETHICSWEB GOOD PRACTICE OF DOCUMENTATION WORKSHOP Dear colleagues, within the framework of the EC‐funded Project ETHICSWEB, the Department of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine (University Medical Center Goettingen) offers travel grants of max. 500,‐€ for attending the ETHICSWEB Workshop on Good Practice of Documentation on April 12th 2010 at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) in Rome. ETHICSWEB is an Interconnected European information and documentation system for ethics and science (http://ethicsweb.org/). It will be a common, decentralized European access point for information that is made available in different European member states, by various regional providers and centres as well as by international organizations. Existing information and documentation systems will be connected to allow and ensure an easy access to comprehensive information on science and ethics. At the same time sophisticated tools, both technical and semantic, will be applied or – if necessary developed – to make the huge amount of information available for all parties involved. The aim of the workshop is to present the work of ETHICSWEB, to share expertise in and discuss central standards of documentation in the field of ethics and science (e.g. document types and relevance criteria, cataloguing rules, thesauri, selection of indexing terms, setting up and maintaining a database), and to specify the benefits of and requirements for participation in ETHICSWEB. Please also see the attached program. Interested persons should submit their application (in a WORD document or a PDF‐file) by March 10th 2010. The applications should contain their CV and a letter of interest indicating their background in ethics documentation and their interest in attending the workshop. Applicants will be informed by March 15th 2010.
